Doctor Who: 15 Most Disastrous Stories Of All-Time

6. Fear Her

If I told you that the slot for this episode was initially going to be filled by a script from Stephen Fry, I think you'd agree that I could leave it at that. Following on from 'Love and Monsters' there is far more consensus that this episode stunk! Also Billie Piper gives us her best axe wielding Jack Nicholson impression. The episode kicks off the whole 'Love conquers all' victory that is borderline vomit inducing. Especially seeing as in the following story the Doctor makes a point of ruining perceived 'magic' with science. But also some of the darker themes are incredibly undermined, such as child abduction. There are posters all over the street about lost children, yet there isn't a single police officer in sight. The kids are left to play in the back alleys and front yards unsupervised. I'd say that was pretty poor parenting. 'Torchwood' would tackle a similar theme more effectively later that year. Matthew Graham, lead writer and creator of the incredibly popular 'Life of Mars' actually wrote this episode, which is unbelievable given how bad it is. This didn't improve much for 'The Almost People' and 'The Rebel Flesh' years later.
