Doctor Who: 15 Most Disastrous Stories Of All-Time

5. Time And The Rani

Time and the Rani makes some of the other stories on this list seem like masterpieces. Look at the set up, you have Sylvester McCoy in a wig dressed as Colin Baker, regenerating into Sylvester McCoy without a wig dressed as Colin Baker, Bonnie Langford screaming her face off and Kate O'Mara pretending to be Bonnie Langford . Oh and a giant testicle, I mean brain. Sylvester McCoy often gets a bashing as does Bonnie Langford, rather unfairly. Consider, if Bonnie Langford is given a script that reads 'Mel screams', there's only so much she can do with that. You can see that the players are all embarrassed to be spurting this drivel. The script is a mess and the plot is absurd even by Doctor Who standards. The audience are treated as mugs and is deprecating to the series as well as the lead character. Furthermore, the action is stopped dead half way through for the Doctor to play dress up and choose his new outfit! Written by the husband and wife writing team of Pip and Jane Baker, it becomes clear that writing in a domestic setting, it must be hard to constructively criticize each other's ideas. The saddest thing of all is that it is an undignified end to the Sixth Doctor, regenerating after supposedly falling off his exercise bike during a 'tumultuous buffeting'.
