Another actress to appear in Doctor Who, Jessica Raine is an actress that Whovians know from two big parts, as she also starred in the docudrama, An Adventure in Space and Time as Verity Lambert. In both performances, Raine was subtle, quiet and extremely charming, and though she wouldn't have to reprise her role as Emma from 'Hide' to become a companion, it would be fascinating to see more of that character. Likewise, the appearance playing Lambert showed what she could do if she was given a bigger role in Who; let's face it, she pretty much was a companion to David Bradley's William Hartnell. She's already a favourite on the BBC, as she stars in Call The Midwife, but would Moffat have her back for another part in Doctor Who?
5. Andrea Riseborough
Another film star, and an actress who appeared in the Being Human pilot before being replaced by Lenora Crichlow, Andrea Riseborough is an actress who would make a great companion. Having played roles as diverse as a young Margaret Thatcher, to Tom Cruise's wife in a sci-fi epic, Riseborough would be perfect as a mature counterpart to the often ridiculous Doctor. She is more used to playing intense roles in darkly serious films, which would suit many Doctor Who episodes to the ground, but it would be interesting to see her lighten up a bit for the fantasy side of the show. Doctor Who might've missed the chance to cast her - she's a rising star in Hollywood now - but it's certainly interesting imagining what she'd be like opposite Peter Capaldi.
