Doctor Who: 5 Classic Who Episodes They Should Remake

1. The Five Doctors

fivedoctorsgroup_6921What it's about: The first five Doctors are being taken out of time and space along with their companions and placed in The Death Zone on Gallifrey, with the exception of the Fourth Doctor who gets trapped in the vortex. They realise that the reason that they have been brought here lies in the Tomb of Rassillon. The Doctors must fight foes from the past, to uncover the truth as to why they've been brought there and by whom. Why I would like a remake: It's the 50th. Nothing else really needs to be said! If I had my way, Saturday's special would be the 21st Century version of the Five Doctors as for me, The Five Doctors is everything the show should be about. It's fun, and it celebrates the history of the show with past Doctors, companions and monsters. It's funny, it's got a strong but simple plot and it's just... Doctor Who in a nutshell. It's like a 90 minute trailer advertising the show. I honestly felt it was brilliant, and it's my favourite episode overall. The best episode is Genesis of the Daleks, but my favourite is the Five Doctors, as it is just what I think of when I think of Doctor Who. I really think that the 50th should be an updated version of this. Whether you keep the same plot, to be honest, is quite irrelevant, but just for the sake of argument they actually keep the plot. Recast William Hartnell as David Bradley and Patrick Troughton as Reece Shearsmith from the Adventures in Time and Space biopic, and recast Jon Pertwee with his son Sean. Then you can bring back the remaining Doctors and use the line from Time Crash about their aging. After that, instead of bringing in past companions, pair the Doctors up with each other. Pair up the 1st and 11th Doctor, 2nd and 3rd Doctor (though I would feature them less than the other pairings), 5th and 10th, 6th and 7th, 4th and 8th and the 9th and the Hurt Doctor, in the Death Zone on a Gallifrey at war. John Hurt is getting to the end of the Time War, and sees how out of control Rassilon has become. He summons his past selves to go to the Death Zone €“ which has since been invaded by Daleks €“ to go to the Tomb of Rassilon and free Lord President Borusa from his immortality on the side of Rassilon's tomb. Once they get there, they free Borusa and they work out a plan of getting the ring of immortality back on Rassilon's finger to send him back to his eternal sleep. Borusa would then go and lead the Time Lords to victory and restore Gallifrey back to its original position. This idea is pretty crazy, but I would want something along those lines. It would be remaking the Five Doctors, updating it, doing a sequel and reinventing it all at the same time. True, it's a bit mental, but it would stay true to the original plot and like I said, it's the 50th. Something like this needs to happen in my opinion €“ a true multi-Doctor story, both classic and new, and if it doesn't, I'll be adding another story to the list of episodes I want remade. What episodes do you think need remaking? Do you think The Green Death should be left alone? Do you think that The Mind Robber needs remaking? Or some of the missing stories?
