Doctor Who: 5 Reasons The Five-Ish Doctors Reboot Was Great Fun

5. The Humour

Davison Baker Mccoy Amidst the serious business of the likes of An Adventure In Space & Time and the various anniversary tidbits, this slipped under the radar as a pleasant BBC Red Button surprise. We've seen various Doctors do comedy before but never quite like this, and all involved deserve a pat on the back. Of course, McCoy has form in the art of humour. Having retrospectively seen the early years of his incarnation as a sort of Buster Keaton in space, Sylvester could well have sat his director and co-stars down and made them watch any number of golden age screwball comedies. That there are elements of them as well as the fly on the wall style of The Office as our awesome trio go about the business of snaffling themselves the chance at the big score of some very special roles indeed makes it all the funnier. Some standouts €“ the repeated phonecalls to the BBC production offices, the "Caves Of Androzani" inspired dream sequence for our esteemed showrunner, McCoy's repeated Hobbit references/name-drops and Baker's diva-like insistence that his family subject themselves to another viewing of "Vengeance On Varos" on DVD having locked all the doors, you know.
