Doctor Who: 5 Reasons The Five-Ish Doctors Reboot Was Great Fun

4. Jon Culshaw's Tom Baker Impression

John Culshaw Tom Baker It was one of the high points of both the radio and television rollouts of Dead Ringers, and it was entirely in keeping with the spirit of things that Jon Culshaw got chance to polish off his take on Tom Baker. After all if the great man was going to busy himself as The Curator, why not take advantage of Jon's talents as Big Finish did in The Kingmaker, where a tape recording of the Fourth Doctor was voiced by the Lancastrian funnyman. Nice hat-tip to the original "Five Doctors", too. They gave Tom a bell, though he was "stuck in the sodding Time Vortex- again!". Memories abound of the Fourth's parallel appearances on Eurostar/buying a wardrobe/convincing people the London Eye was a trap. And at least this impersonator's genuinely warm. Just remember Richard Hurndall basically reprising William Hartnell's Greatest Hits with all the warmth of your granddad after a hard night on the sherry. The genuine Tom could play comedy of course- witness "all change at Venus for the Brighton line" and countless others. But as this shows, he also inspired something of a cult comic following. Lovely stuff.
