Doctor Who: 5 Reasons Why We Need A New Showrunner

4. Respect The Ladies

River Song This is my big issue with the Moff. His episodes of Doctor Who are rampant with tropes that have been getting progressively less progressive. Amy Pond waiting at the window for her Raggedy Man may have been sweet, but it goes downhill from there. River regressing from archeologist who dated the Doctor to a woman whose entire life revolved around him, the awful disregard for the trauma that should have arisen from Amy and Rory's child being stolen, the fact that Clara is treated more as a mystery than as a real person; the list goes on and on. The "She Said He Said" prequel to the series 7 finale was the last straw. I'm surprised Jenna Coleman didn't toss her script away in disgust over the claims of Clara being the "perfect" girl and her constant struggle to keep herself from dropping her panties at the Doctor's feet. After all, he's a guy who condescends to you and has a really nice car: how can a girl resist? The issue boils down to what Steven Moffat constitutes as a strong female character: smart, hot, witty, sexually loose. "Strongly written" is not a list of adjectives, it simply means a fully developed person. Moffat has proven he can't handle his ladies. It's getting old, and it's time for us to get someone who can.
