Doctor Who: 5 Reasons Why The Second And Eleventh Doctors Should Share Adventures

4. Swapping Companions

Doctor Who Patrick TroughtonImagine the rich potential offered when you throw in the prospect of companion-swapping. No, not like that! Jamie McCrimmon with the Eleventh, Clara Oswald with the Second, that sort of thing. Would they embrace the similarities between 'their' Doctors and work in harmony with them,or find them too strange in comparison to either the younger or older incarnation? And indeed how the companions would interact with each other is a fascinating conjecture. Most likely Amy Pond and Zoe Heriot might have more than a few clashes, for sure. And a teaming of Rory Williams and Jamie might prove irresistible to Mrs Williams's Caledonian sensibilities... Based on how she dealt with the young Queen of Years in 'The Rings Of Akhaten,' Clara may well find her nannying side coming to the fore in meeting Victoria Waterfield some time after 'Evil' €“ her father dead at the gunstalks of the Daleks, she'd need someone to lean on and Clara could very well fill a role as a sort of model for Victoria to grow into before she leaves the TARDIS behind for good in 'Fury From The Deep'. Plus, they'd have common ground in having lost a parent and been taken in by the Doctor, which adds a possible whole new dimension to the 'they sleep in my mind' philosophical tangent briefly pursued by the Second and Ms Waterfield in 'Tomb Of The..' If they were feeling really adventurous there's even scope for the younger Doctor to meet the Paternoster Gang, who may well be forgiven for wondering if the Beatle lookalike before them could ever really become the Doctor they know, respect and even fear a little. Throw River Song into the mix and we could really have something, too!
