Doctor Who: 5 Ways The 12th Doctor's Era Should Be Like The 3rd's (And 1 Way It Shouldn't)

1. Bring Back Third Doctor-Era Adversaries

I€™m going to name two races that we really, really need to see back on the show. Both were introduced during the Third Doctor€™s era, and both were very interesting. Neither has been seen since the Third Doctor€™s time on the show, but both have been mentioned, and returned quite a lot in the spin-off fiction. Those species are the Draconians and the Eight-Legs, aka The Spiders from Metebelis III. The Draconians were a noble reptilian race that had a thing for warfare and were often standing in opposition to Earth. They weren€™t evil as a race, no more so than humanity, a noble mammalian race. They were generally trustworthy and honorable, and had a very unique appearance that still holds up. The Eight-Legs were a species of telepathic spiders that used mind control to seriously mess with various humans and a slave species on their home planet. They were the original 'There€™s something on your back!' species, and it would be glorious to see them return, especially as they were directly responsible for the Third Doctor€™s death. Also, it would give the series a chance to correctly pronounce €œMetebelis€. As I€™ve mentioned in other places, it would also be nice to return to Peladon, and see what€™s been happening there. It would also be great to see species like the Ogrons, and the Axons, though please not both at once. Basically anything that expands on what we€™ve seen from the Third Doctor€™s era would be quite wonderful. Except for one thing. The one thing the series should never, ever do again.
