The Eighth Doctor
13. Why Was The Master Being Tried By The Daleks?
In the 8th Doctors only televised appearance, we learn that not only do the Daleks have a robust judiciary system but unsurprisingly, they also have no aversion to using the death penalty. Yet the last time we saw The Master and the Daleks together, they were allies. What changed? More to the point, why have a trial and execute him when they could have easily killed him on the spot whenever they captured him? It could be argued that they were in on his scheme to kill The Doctor. Consider this the last time the 7th Doctor encountered the Daleks he used The Hand of Omega to destroy their home world. Yet in a remarkably uncharacteristic display of grace, they stood aside and allowed The Doctor to collect The Master's remains from (the oddly resurrected) Skaro. The only possible reason for this unusual behavior was that this was all an unnecessarily elaborate scheme that would have failed miserably if the Doctor hadn't been accidentally gunned down by street thugs.
12. Is The Doctor Half Human?
If only The Doctor could be counted on to tell the truth! The revelation by the 8th Doctor that he is half human came after decades of Doctor Who being on the air and totally out of the blue. It has never been raised again and largely ignored within the TV series. Did the 8th Doctor regenerate as half-human perhaps as a survival mechanism to address the fact that his last incarnation died as a direct result of not being human? He still has two hearts, but were there other, unseen changes? Did he perhaps pick up human DNA from all his regenerations near and around humans? Was this something he has never mentioned before or since out of a sense of shame? The Doctor being half human would provide another explanation as to his affinity for Earth and humanity and might also explain why he was "so lonely" (The Girl in the Fireplace) as a child.
