Doctor Who: 8 Past Roles Proving Keeley Hawes' Casting Is Awesome

6. Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2006, 2007, 2008, 2010)

For the Tomb Raider games Legend, Anniversary, Underworld and Lara Croft And The Guardian Of Light (why it wasn't branded Tomb Raider I have no idea), Lara was voiced by Keeley Hawes. So voice acting is very different to screen acting, I agree, but I have chosen to include this role for one very simple reason: it introduced Hawes to €“ I'm having trouble finding a way to describe it, but I think you'll know what I mean by €“ the world of Comic Con. Tomb Raider introduced her to the sort of fan culture that is adopted by fans of games such as Tomb Raider and shows such as Doctor Who, preparing her for the sometimes-overwhelming love (or other emotions) of the fans of these long-established franchises. And, to put it simply, I think most Doctor Who fans will admit that having Lara Croft on the show is pretty cool.
