Doctor Who: 8 Past Roles Proving Keeley Hawes' Casting Is Awesome
2. Ambassadors (2013)
David Mitchell's latest TV offering, Ambassadors, is a three-part comedy-drama based around the British embassy in the fictitious nation of Tazbekistan. Not quite Peep Show, is it? Hawes plays Jennifer Davis, wife to Mitchell's Ambassador Keith Davis, as they negotiate diplomatic life in central Asia. I'm not going to lie to you, it's not the best thing David Mitchell's ever done, but it is worth a watch, not least so that you can say you've watched everything on this list, or, better yet, everything Keeley Hawes has ever been in. Why then, you might ask, is Ambassadors on this list? Quite simply because, since the black humour of Ashes To Ashes, or before that her two-part appearance on The Vicar Of Dibley the best part of a decade ago, this is the first TV comedy Hawes has done. With the sometimes-a-bit-too-childish humour of Doctor Who introduced mainly by Moffat, it's nice to see that Hawes still maintains the ambition and ability to play humorous roles. And I don't think I'm reading too much into the odd haircut and large glasses featured in Ms Delphox's promotional picture when I say that I can sense some humour coming our way from her character. Or at least a hint of quirkiness.
I'm a British filmmaker (or, at least, trying to be) and about to graduate with a Film Studies degree. Most of the time I should spend working is actually on Netflix so I obviously have loads of life experience to share with you lovely people.
