Now that we've considered what won't happen, let's look at what's likely to go down vis-à-vis that 13th regeneration. Yours truly will even go so far as to suggest a neat answer to the problem; read on to discover the future of "Doctor Who." Well, maybe. Admittedly, this supposition seems a bit hopefully optimistic, but given that Capaldi is likely to stay on the show for some time and given that Moffat himself knows him as a tremendous lifelong fan, I''m inclined to believe. Aside from that infamous letter sent to the Radio Times by his 15-year-old self, reportedly for years Capaldi would corner Moffat at any mutually-attended social function to talk "Doctor Who" like a true devotee. We all know that Moffat doesn't depend on fandom for story ideas (possibly for the best, lest the series could threaten to fall into a morass of continuity and too-clever-by-half self-referencing) and rarely are actors consulted by any creative team on any television program, but couldn't Mr. Capaldi be considered an exception? Wouldn't the prospective still-showrunner at least float an idea or two past his fellow Scot as an informal litmus test to an intimately-connected fan of the show?
