Doctor Who Christmas Special Spoilers: 6 Things The Sun Have Ruined

6. It's Set On Trenzalore - Where The Doctor Is Buried

Trenzalore We've already had some details of the plot, thanks to yesterday's release of the official poster, title and synopsis for the upcoming Doctor Who Christmas special. The synopsis read as follows:
"Orbiting a quiet backwater planet, the massed forces of the universe's deadliest species gather, drawn to a mysterious message that echoes out to the stars. And amongst them €“ the Doctor. Rescuing Clara from a family Christmas dinner, the Time Lord and his best friend must learn what this enigmatic signal means for his own fate and that of the universe."
The "quiet backwater planet" referred to in that synopsis has been confirmed by the Sun as Trenzalore - which of course it the planet that holds the Doctor's grave, as confirmed in The Name Of The Doctor - whose Christmas Town will be the site of a centuries long battle between the Doctor and an armada of no less than four of his most iconic foes. The teaser poster already confirmed that the Cybermen would appear, as well as the Edvard Munch-inspired The Silence, as well as teasing Peter Capaldi thanks to an easily missable Easter Egg appearance of his face in a background fire. There are also a pair of frozen arms sticking out of the snow, giving the unnerving impression of zombies... Doctor Who Arms The Sun reveals more details - that the Doctor will be summoned to Trenzalore by the sound of a bell echoing across the universe, which also summons his enemies, and that he will protect Christmas Town until a final showdown with an old enemy at the climax of the episode. Clara will go with him, but given the length of the show - spanning 300 years - she will be forced to stay in the TARDIS, and only appear when summoned like a special team.
