Tom Baker was a future Doctor. He mentioned that the Doctor would use old faces again, and made reference to the fact that he was him nearly as unsubtly as Baker himself claiming he was in the episode, two days before it aired. So how, I hear you ask, will they end Doctor Who when Tom Baker's the last Doctor? Well, they never can. Doctor Who is now immortal, because we will always be leading up to that Doctor.
