Doctor Who Series 8: 10 Exciting Details And Rumours (February Update)

3. Neil Gaiman's Weeping Angel Story

Despite the Weeping Angels appearing in 'The Time of the Doctor' briefly, Steven Moffat stated last year that he was probably done with the creatures, and that there wasn't really anywhere he wanted to take them anymore: "How many times can the lights flicker? What happens if a moth sees them? Is the alien invasion cancelled at the point?" he joked. Some would claim that's for the best, as they've become less scary each time, whilst others would say the Angels are still the best villain in the show. The Moff did however mention a story he was pitched involving the Weeping Angels that he'd love to have done, but couldn't, because the writer is far too busy. "It's not going to happen but a very good Doctor Who writer pitched a great idea for the Weeping Angels the other day and I was very excited about it" he said; "We had a long phone call about it and I went away thinking, 'That is going to be brilliant!' And about two days later he admitted he wasn't going to have time to do it. Hopefully we'll get to it in the next year." Does that sound like Neil Gaiman to you? He's the only Doctor Who writer who's confirmed himself to be too busy for this year, and he's mentioned wanting to do an Earth story in the past. It might not be him - he's also said he wants to bring the Yeti back - but how much would you bet it is?
