5. Returning To An Old Adventure
BBCIn the early stages of production on Series 8, Steven Moffat announced that an episode in Series 8 would see the Doctor return to the scene of an old adventure. Since that could mean any one of over 200 stories being followed up, fans adopted a wait and see approach. Then overseas filming was announced. In recent years, its become a tradition to film at least one episode per series abroad. The Fires Of Pompeii was filmed in Rome, Vincent And The Doctor was shot in Croatia, and this year Doctor Whos jaunt abroad was to Lanzarote. And not for the first time. Back in 1984, the Fifth Doctors penultimate adventure Planet Of Fire included location filming in Lanzarote, which stood in for the volcanic planet of Sarn. The Doctor going back to a past adventure and Series 8's Lanzarote shoot being part of the same episode (rumoured to have the title "Kill The Moon") may just be a coincidence but one thing's for sure: this series, a Classic story is being directly followed up for the first time.
