Doctor Who Series 8: Everything We Know So Far

13. The Guest Cast

A strong collective of guest stars has been a staple of Doctor Who for decades and Series 8 is no different with an excellent mix of comedy stars, dramatic actors, and (rather surprisingly) a musician set to take on various roles throughout the Whoniverse. At the start of the series, comic actor Ben Miller will guest star in Episode 3 as the Sherriff Of Nottingham opposite Tom Riley€™s Robin Hood. A role that is quite a departure for Miller as he isn€™t particularly well known for playing villainous characters. Meanwhile, Ashes To Ashes star Keeley Hawes will appear in the fifth episode (rumoured title of €œTime Heist€) as Ms Delphox, €œan out of this world character with a dark secret.€ Moving on to the business end of the series, Sanjeev Bhaskar and Michele Gomez (Bad Education) will both guest star in the finale. Bhaskar€™s role is currently unknown but Gomez has been publicised as playing a character known both as Missy and the Gatekeeper of the Nethersphere. But it€™s the guest casting for Episode 8 that has drawn the most attention with appearances by comedian Frank Skinner and Southampton-born singer-songwriter Louisa Rose Allen; better known by her stage name Foxes. Foxes€™ guest role has caused some consternation amongst fans who are worried about her lack of acting experience and the possibility that she has been cast based on her singing ability. How well she acquits herself in her role will only become apparent after the episode airs but it€™s worth bearing in mind that actors and actresses from various fields and with no previous experience have appeared in Doctor Who before now and only very rarely does it turn out badly.
