Doctor Who Series 8: Everything We Know So Far

8. It Will Mainly Be Earthbound

As well as a much lighter story arc, another throwback to the earlier years of New Who is that the majority of Series 8 will take place on Earth. This is a decision that may come back to haunt Moffat as a frequent observation by fans and critics was that, for a time traveller, the Doctor spends an inordinate amount of time in present day London. Despite the focus on Earth, there will be stories set on other planets and Moffat has promised a lot of variety with the episodes' settings including modern day London, Victorian London, and Sherwood Forest in the Middle Ages. An interesting titbit is that Episode 8 has the rumoured title of €œMummy On The Orient Express€ which could potentially imply a period setting given the Agatha Christie inspired title. Though singer-songwriter Foxes guest starring in that episode and contributing to the soundtrack does make it seem less likely given that her music style is distinctly contemporary.
