Doctor Who: The Time Of The Doctor Trailer - 11 Questions For Christmas
4. Why Do The Doctor's Enemies "Want His Life"?
"If you want my life, come...and...take it!" Probably the most chilling and emotional line of the whole trailer, and possible the whole special, is this exclamation of the Eleventh Doctor's willingness to die. Of course, if he were going to just keel over and die, you'd think he'd say something more fitting like "I'll go out with a fight" or "Over my dead body". His word choice of his enemies taking his life is a slightly peculiar one, and one that makes sense if you think about it in a certain way. Regeneration energy is REALLY powerful stuff. Enough to cure otherwise incurable poison, or reconfigure one's looks, or even damage a TARDIS enough for it to have to repair itself. When The Doctor starts to glow, it's not that he's happy to see you... it's that he's about to destructively reinvent himself. So what if you could harness that energy? Imagine the things you could do, the destruction or creation you could render with a mere usage of this amazingly potent energy. Maybe The Doctor's enemies aren't planning to just kill him... maybe they're planning to also harvest his energy in the process.
