50th Anniversary Title Sequence
Style: I have addressed this variation as such due to the fact that it will most likely be rolled over into the Twelfth Doctor's reign due to the fact so far the sequence has only been used for half a series. I first saw this sequence on the big screen at a preview showing of 'The Snowmen' and I was blown away. They finally decided to do something other than the time tunnel and explore the different worlds and phenomena. Some might call it 'space porn' and that's almost what it is. Almost only the actual rendering of it on repeat viewing is pretty stilted and poor. People have produced their own improved versions online which do put the official sequence to shame. Still, I'll take it for what it is, which is a dramatic and bold improvement. Also points for adding Matt Smith's face and not making it look awful, but points lost for the horrendously tacky, TARDIS doors opening to camera but at least the ship has its mojo back.
Score: 7 Logo: It's mostly the same but thank God they have abolished the DW logo. That is all. It still looks very generic though.
Score: 6 The Theme: It isn't dissimilar to the previous version but has had a similar update as the original did in the 60's with the various sounds and jingles added, which does make a difference. Plus the diddly dum base line is back. This theme manages to sound both dark and modern whilst still conjuring up that energy at its heart. A vast improvement.
