Bonus Title Sequence
So now I am left with a difficult situation. Both the Third Doctor title sequence and Fourth Doctor title sequence have 27 points. But which one can we officially say is better? If only there were some way to combine the two... oh wait there is. In 1974, a new title sequence was given to the Third Doctor in his final year that used the same slit scan effects as the Fourth Doctor Title Sequence. Though there are many notable differences between the two. Firstly the opening is completely different. Instead of the TARDIS approaching we have the time tunnel forming, almost 'Space Odyssey' style and then Jon Pertwee materialises into view, pulls back to a full body shot in the only title sequencer to do so and then evaporates into a brilliant white light allowing the logo to pull through as per the Fourth Doctor titles. I personally prefer this version to the Fourth Doctor's title sequence. It combines the iconic status of the Fourth Doctor's title sequence with some of the psychedelic marvelousness of the Third Doctor's sequence. So there you have it.
