Doctor Who: 10 Actors Who Should Replace Peter Capaldi
9. Sheridan Smith
Why She'd Be Great
Over the past few years, Sheridan Smith has managed to establish herself as one of Britain's best actresses on both the stage and the small screen.
Since breaking through in Two Pints of Lager..., she's appeared in comedies, dramas, plays and musicals, and shown a great range across each. She's easily likeable, and an excellent comic actress, but also capable of turing in quietly powerful performances, as seen in Mrs Biggs and her guest turn in Inside No. 9, meaning she could adapt to whatever the show required of her.
Chances Of It Happening
Not bad. She's not exactly a favourite for the role, but isn't a complete rank outside either. She is predominantly a TV actor, so it's not like she'd be taking a step down from movies, though she does have a couple of dramas on the way already.
She's been linked with Who previously, and also appears as Lucie Miller in the Big Finish stories, meaning she's already a part of this world and may well be up for a bigger role in it.
