Why He'd Be Great

Like many of his Harry Potter co-stars, Rupert Grint will probably never fully separate himself from his role in that franchise. But then, of all the younger actors, Grint was one of the best - a perfect embodiment of Ron Weasley.

He hasn't gone on to the success and wide variety of roles Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson have, and indeed is in need of the right part to show off his talents. As we saw in Potter, he's got excellent comic timing, while he'd be able to nail the more otherworldly aspects of the character. Plus they could finally pay off all those ginger jokes.

Chances Of It Happening

It may depend on how his other projects are received. Grint is really having a crack at TV, which bodes well for him being up for a leading role in a multi-part series, but means he might be quite busy.

At the moment he's got leading parts in a TV version of Snatch, and comic book series Imperial City to come. If either or both become successful, then he may not have the time and space in his schedule for Who. If they flop (or Imperial City doesn't make it to series), then his odds will surely go up (and he's already one of the bookies' favourites).
