Doctor Who: 10 Actors Who Should Replace Peter Capaldi
5. Tim Roth
Why He'd Be Great
Because he's Tim freakin' Roth.
He's in the same age bracket as Peter Capaldi, so would be a fitting choice if Chibnall wanted to continue with a slightly older actor in the role, but also capable of bringing something very different.
The Tarantino-favourite is capable of bringing a huge amount of intensity to his roles, and that along with his gravitas would make for an interesting Doctor. At the same time, his love of accents could play into some sillier aspects of the character.
Chances Of It Happening
Hard to call. Roth has previously said that he'd be up for the role if it was offered to him, but that was on Reddit and it's hard to know how serious he was being. He's also much better-known for his film work, and may prefer to continue in that field.
On the other hand, he's worked on TV plenty of times before, and will be on the small screen later this year in the Twin Peaks revival. If he's willing to do one cult classic, maybe he'll be up for the leading part in another.
