Doctor Who: 10 Best Companion Outfits

1. Jo Grant In The Time Monster

JoGrant73 I think style wise, Jo is probably the most hippest, sharpest dresser of the companions. She wore the shortest of skirts, tight trousers and sometimes the most wonderful tops. Most of the time her outfits had knee high boots. Her outfit in The Time Monster was just one of the outfits that made people just gasp. The skirt was amazingly short. When she was sitting with her leg crossed on the desk in UNIT in one scene, it left nothing to the imagination. She's had quite a few scenes like that because her skirts were that short. But she could get away with it. The amusing thing about Jo was that she was working with the Doctor who had motorbikes and cars, and she was running around in these little outfits other girls would probably be trying to hold the back down from flying up. But compared to some of her tamer outfits, I do like this particular outfit. It may not have amazing designs or patterns, but keep in mind this was from 1973. Fashion was completely different. But there is one thing I have noticed about costumes in Doctor Who that they bring around once in awhile, and that is the mini-skirt. The mini-skirt will always have a permanent home in Doctor Who. That's okay, because time and time again, these companions have been able to wear them, and show them off as great looking outfits. To finish off, I must say there are so many outfits in Doctor Who, and these are just a few. I picked the ten I thought were the most recognized or well liked, although I also think Jo Grant's The Three Doctors outfit is another favorite among the fans. There are so many outfits each companion wore, that everyone is going to like another outfit better. But as I wrote this, this made me really look at how much the costuming has changed throughout the series. I am one of those who like the early 80's outfits and earlier. As Doctor Who moved on in the mid to late 80s, the costumes just got bland or over the top. The New Series has pretty much gotten the outfits right, although I think once in a great while, someone will design an outfit that will leave people scratching their heads. It's proven the outfits companions wore are quite popular as when you go to a convention, you not only see people dressed as many versions of the Doctor, but a vast majority are of companions.

I am a sales associate by day, and 3D artist and writer at night. I have a passion for Doctor Who, especially the Fifth Doctor era. I go to conventions when I have the funds, and I also make costumes on my spare time.
