Doctor Who: 10 Best Episodes To Get You Into The Classic Series
1. Remembrance Of The Daleks
Remembrance of the Daleks is a near-perfect episode that doesn’t get as much attention as the likes of The Caves of Androzani and Genesis of the Daleks. However, it is the epitome of classic Doctor Who. The Seventh Doctor, played by Sylvester McCoy, is a severely underrated Doctor with a criminally underrated era.
The Doctor is joined by Ace, a companion who is almost a prototype for Rose, and the episode is a love letter to the show, being considered by fandom as the unofficial 25th-anniversary episode. It lightly touches upon mature themes such as racism without lecturing, and sees the Daleks battle each other in a civil war with more pyrotechnics you can shake a stick at.
Remembrance should almost be considered a part of NuWho, as it essentially acts as a prequel to the Time War, and gives us our first insight into the Doctor’s darker side way before Eccleston and Tennant did. If you want to get into classic Doctor Who then start it off with a literal bang and “UNLIMITED RICE PUDDING!”
