The Third Doctor was possibly the most physical incarnation of the Doctor. While he did mostly keep with the Doctor's stance on non-violence, Pertwee's Doctor was perfectly comfortable using his Venusian Aikido to protect his companions or stop a villain when no other means were necessary. Venusian Aikido was, as indicated by the name, created by the Venusians of Venus. Through it was designed for their five arms and legs, the Doctor was still able to use the basic techniques to his advantage. Originally taught to the Second Doctor, it was the Third Doctor that really got into the action. Using pressure points and special lock maneuvers, the Doctor was prepared to fight dangerous humanoid forms. The Third Doctor always seemed prepared to use the momentum of a foe against them. In the episode The Planet of the Spiders, the Third Doctor simultaneously flips two underlings into the air and landing them on their backs. He stands gracefully on his feet and confidently continue his attempt to rescue Sarah Jane Smith. In later episodes, the techniques would prove to be relatively ineffective against non-humanoids such the Ogrons or Sontarans. The Doctor does not enjoy starting fights, but he is always ready to finish them.
