7. The Doctor In Drag
Thanks to some extra large vicious grub worms, UNIT, and an unidentifiable deadly green ooze, viewers got to see the Third Doctor accidentally turn on the drag charm for a few hilarious minutes. Needing a very quick disguise to hide from Stevens and the megalomaniac super computer BOSS in
The Green Death, the Third Doctor rapidly assumes the feminine dress of Global Chemical's cleaning lady. Highly disturbing is the fact that the Doctor is able to successfully hide in plain sight without being questioned for his rather masculine stature. Not even the head underling in this episode recognizes him in passing. Clad in a bulky floral blue dress and a hasty head wrap, The Doctor is clearly not excited to be dressed as a woman. He warns his amused companion Mike Yates to not say a single word about his rushed choice of disguise. Despite the warning, Mike Yates cannot help himself and compliments the Doctor's handbag. The Doctor is more than happy to hit Yates with the green bucket handbag and return to his much preferred cravats and velvet suits. Though many British actors have donned female garb for a laugh, seeing the straight-laced Third Doctor don a dress and still keep his serious expression was truly a great moment in Doctor Who history.
