Doctor Who: 10 Best NuWho Performances From Guest Stars
1. Lesley Sharp As Sky Silvestry - Midnight (Series 4, Episode 10)
Imagine having to not only learn your own lines, but also
memorise every other cast member’s, as well as the entire square root of pie?
Lesley Sharp not only achieves all of these, she also plays one of the most disturbing villains NuWho has to offer and completely knocks it out the park. She is first introduced as a quiet passenger aboard the bus trip to the Sapphire Waterfalls on the diamond planet, Midnight, secluded and only conversing with The Doctor. However, things go drastically wrong when a shadowy entity infiltrates the bus and possesses Sky.
When she comes to, she is utterly terrifying and unrecognisable as the host to whatever creature has possessed her, copying the words of every passenger and moving with quick unnatural gestures. Just one piercing look from her is enough to chill to the core.
Even The Doctor cannot win and is almost killed when the entity tries to steal his voice and have his body thrown out of the bus by the paranoid, fearful passengers.
From the creepy repetition of her co-star’s voices, to the
unnatural body movements and sinister possession of Tennant’s suddenly
vulnerable Doctor – Sharp reaches great heights in this horror masterpiece and
more than earns the top spot as the number one guest star in NuWho.
