Doctor Who: 10 Big Questions After Death In Heaven

1. What Is Next For The Doctor?

Clara might have said goodbye but the Doctor remains onboard the TARDIS, ready for new adventures in space and time. In Doctor Who pivotal characters can leave and the Doctor can be replaced, but the show continues. It keeps it fresh year after year. In 2014 we were introduced to a new Doctor. Next year - we assume - we€™ll also be introduced to a new companion. Clara has been a massive influence in this Doctor€™s life. Through her he has regained of what makes him the Doctor. He has become the hero, the protector of Earth and while he is more ruthless and colder than his immediate predecessors, he has proven his ability to do what is right. It will take a strong character - or characters - to travel with him but that will be half the fun, He needs companions too; without Clara we saw that isolation made him distant and erratic. If he doesn€™t want to slip back towards that darkness he will need someone to connect with. A new companion can bring a new edge to the show as much as a new Doctor. It will be exciting to see what we get when series nine begins next year. It will be a long wait indeed!
