Doctor Who: 10 Biggest Mistakes Of The Chris Chibnall Era
8. The Lack Of Returning Writers
The appointment of Chris Chibnall saw a whole new team of writers being brought into the fold, none of whom (apart from Chibnall himself) had ever written for Doctor Who before.
On paper, this definitely isn't a bad thing, but in this particular case, it seemed like too much of a jump to have a new Doctor and new companions written by entirely new writers.
While all of the writers who worked on Doctor Who during this era are phenomenal in their own right, the show seemed drastically different under them. As a result, many casual viewers and long-time fans switched off, and stopped watching the show.
Due to the writing, we also saw the Doctor in several situations that were, well, un-Doctor like, such as her genocide of the Daleks and the Cybermen at the end of Flux, along with her flat-out ignoring of Graham as he confides in her that he is terrified of his cancer returning.
Even the BBC must've been unsure of the direction Chibnall was taking the programme, as the appointment of former showrunner Russell T Davies feels like an attempt to put Doctor Who back on track.
