Doctor Who: 10 Biggest Plot Holes Of The Revived Series So Far

5. How Did They Escape from The Doctor's Time Stream?

BBC

In The Name Of The Doctor, the Doctor and Clara travels to the Doctor€™s own grave in his own personal future where it's revealed that, since the Doctor has traveled in time more than any other in the universe, his corpse is basically a blue ray of light, a sort of scar tissue of time, if you will. To cut a very long story story, Clara jumps into it and is "splintered" into endless versions of herself who subsequently pop up throughout the Doctor's life to save him from harm's way.

This is all well and good, but how did she then get out of it? At the end of the same episode viewers were hit with the almighty bombshell that the Doctor had been hiding a guilt-ridden incarnation of himself which was seemingly as good a reason as any to not actually explain what the hell had happened in the rest of the story.

By the time the show returned for its 50th anniversary special, The Day Of The Doctor, the Doctor and Clara had been off on their respective merry ways for some time and it was never revealed how they escaped the time stream. Maybe one day the answer will be revealed. Probably not.
