Doctor Who: 10 Characters Ready For A Spin-Off

1. The Ponds

amy-rory Last we heard, Amy and Rory were stranded indefinitely in 1930s Manhattan, which opens up a whole new world of options for their characters. I'm picturing a stylish drama surrounding their unconventional lives in New York during the Great Depression. Think Mad Men, but with more monsters and bread lines. I don't know about you guys, but I can't think of a single thing wrong with an in-depth exploration of the Pond/Williams power couple -- Rory could be a medical pioneer (hello, advanced knowledge of modern medicine) and Amy could be an intrepid reporter, Sarah Jane style. After all, we already know that she's a good writer. And in their free time, they fight the forces of darkness that troll the shadier corners of their Greenwich Village neighborhood. It would give them an opportunity to still go out and help people, but they'd also have the semi-stable home life that they both desired. That is, until the war starts and Rory ends up getting drafted. And if Rory was drafted and sent abroad, how come the Doctor couldn't just pick him up in, say, 1941 France? And for that matter, why couldn't Rory and the missus just plan a holiday to Florida or something and drop him a line letting him know when and where they'd be? All right, so it's not perfect. But if you're just going to run around poking holes in things you've got no business watching Doctor Who in the first place.
