Doctor Who: 10 Defining Traits Of The Fifth Doctor

Fifth time's a charm.

Peter Davison took over the coveted reigns as the Doctor from his predecessor, Tom Baker, in 1981 and it's safe to say that nobody (other than maybe Matt Smith) has ever had such huge timey-wimey shoes to fill in the role. Throughout his seven years in the TARDIS, Tom Baker had epitomised the role and his name is generally the one that comes to mind when people ask fans, and even people who aren't familiar with the series, who 'the Doctor' is. Davison's run from 1981-1984 was filled with many good and bad moments but there are actions and words that define each actor that steps into that coveted Time Lord role. Many moments that occur define who exactly this incarnation of the Doctor is going to be and how well he will be received by the fans. As the man himself famously said: "That's the trouble with regeneration. You never quite know what you're going to get..." While he had large shoes to fill, he did a phenominal job at doing so, and with that said, here are the top 10 defining traits of the Fifth Doctor in all his cricket playing, stick of celery wearing glory.
