10. Becoming The Doctor
Castrovalva was the first serial for Peter Davison and he well and truly knocked it out of the park. It didn't take long for fans to discover he was very different than Tom Baker's incarnation as the Fifth Doctor seemed more compasionate, more inquisitive and generally more 'human'. H is sense of dress was a departure as well, as he not only changed into his cricketeer outfit but unravelled that iconic scarf as a way to find his way back to the TARDIS control room (he was in search of the Zero Room). While he suffered regeneration sickness, he started digressing into previous incarnations, either by the way he spoke to Adric, believing his current companions were previous ones, and telling one of his companions to "reverse the polarity of the neutron flow", a statement made famous by Jon Pertwee's Third Doctor. As such, he was not only able to bring his own flavour to the role but he was able to bring all of his predecessors back in his own way, too. Simples.
