8. Revelation Of The Daleks (1986)
This is Colin Baker's only meeting with the Daleks in the televised series and as such it's one of his strongest episodes, though when the other candidates are pure garbage like Timelash and The Twin Dilemma, that's not much of a compliment. Still, there's plenty to be enjoyed in this story. Somehow, Davros was able to escape Earth and has set himself up as the "Great Healer" on the planet Necros, harvesting human remains from the massive funeral home Tranquil Repose in order to create a new race of hybrid Dalek/humans. In addition to the return of fan favourite Davros, this story also features Alexei Sayle (from the classic sitcom The Young Ones) as a DJ at the funeral home who entertains those kept in suspended animation. Sayle plays this role to the hilt, clearly relishing the chance to be in the series and fans got to see the wondrous sight of a Dalek being destroyed by rock and roll (or more exactly, an amplified sound wave gun). This episode also gives us the spectacle of a mutated human trapped inside a glass Dalek casing, which perhaps doesn't make much sense but is still extremely visually arresting nonetheless.
