Doctor Who: 10 Definitive Dalek Stories Of All Time

9. Destiny Of The Daleks (1979)

Destiny Daleks This story features the only televised appearance to date of Dalek foes the Movellans, a logically-minded race of aliens who liked to wear white go-go boots and had silver Rastafarian wigs (it was the 70's, after all.) The Fourth Doctor and Romana return to Skaro and find that Davros, in suspended animation since the events of Genesis of the Daleks, has been revived and is engaged in a stalemated war with the Movellans. The Daleks revived Davros to help them break the stalemate. However, unknown to them, the Movellans intend to use the Doctor for the same purpose... The Doctor refuses, of course, and by the end of the story, the Movellans have all been deactivated and Davros is sent to Earth to stand trial for his war crimes, which, coincidentally, leads directly into the next story on this list. As a Tom Baker story, this has more than its share of silliness. Davros gets some great scenes here in which to chew the scenery and the Movellans are an interesting idea. It's somewhat of a stretch to imagine that the Daleks will be stopped for a thousand years by a blocked corridor, though, but stranger things have happened.

Hi there, What Culture-ers! I'm William Graff, a 40-year old freelance writer from the wilds of Capitol Hill in beautiful Denver, Colorado. I enjoy many things such as beer, Doctor Who, The Simpsons, record collecting, stand-up comedy, long aimless walks, and of course the Broncos, which is required by law if you live here. I appreciate all feedback for my writing, but I prefer cash and/or deleted Smiths singles in lieu of praise. Rock on!
