Doctor Who: 10 Directions The Show Could Go In Next

The Disney partnership opens up a lot of possibilities for Doctor Who, but perhaps the most tantalising one is the opportunity to rectify one of the biggest and most costly mistakes in the franchise's history.

In 1996, an attempt was made to revive Doctor Who with a made-for-TV movie starring Paul McGann in the lead role. That attempt failed.

The movie's failure condemned the series to another nine years in purgatory until Davies came along to save it. With that man back at the helm, perhaps he fancies giving the show another chance on the big screen.

A full-blown Doctor Who film would be a great way to increase the show's visibility on a global scale. With the right script and some big stars attached, it would draw millions of eyes to the product - and hopefully, that product would actually be quite good.

The idea of a Doctor Who movie might trigger some bad memories for older fans, but if there's anybody who can put those fears to rest, then it's the man who saved the series back in 2005.
