Doctor Who: 10 Dubious Morals That Series 8 Taught Us

2. Some Announcements Should Be Made in Person

It's a huge moment, in the beginning of Dark Water, when after several stories Clara finally confesses her love to Danny Pink. This moment is slightly undercut by the fact that it causes him to walk out into traffic and die horribly. All of which could have been avoided if Clara had just waited to tell him in person. Not only would she have been able to better gauge his reaction from the look on his face when she said it but he also wouldn't have been brutally pulped by several tons of fast-moving steel immediately afterwards. Sure, it's true, opening up about your feelings to someone for the first time can be awkward, nerve-wracking and a cause for a lot of anxiety. Not as much, however, as having to scrape your beloved's pancreas off of the fender of a 1994 Chrysler LeBaron. Which is to say nothing about what it does to the driver of the LeBaron's afternoon. Do the right thing for everyone and wait until later at dinner. That way, if a speeding car plows into the restaurant and runs them over immediately afterwards, at least you have the satisfaction of knowing it wasn't your fault.
