Doctor Who: 10 Great Tenth Doctor Stories

8. The Next Doctor (Story 199, 2008)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFU9wKm2sRE The first, and one of only two, of the €œSpecials€ to appear on this list, €œThe Next Doctor€ was a lovely story. The concept of a man who thinks he€™s the Doctor, but isn€™t worked so very well here, and the Victorian setting served the plot wonderfully, though I could have done without the giant steampunk Cyberman. It was also just great to see the images of all nine previous Doctors, which only served to make it more clear that McGann officially counts. This is also one of those rare episodes where I really noticed certain aspects of the production, like the directing and, notably, the cinematography and costumes. Mercy Hartigan€™s red dress among the blacks and whites was a lovely thing to behold.
