Doctor Who: 10 Iconic Sixth Doctor Moments Nobody Will Ever Forget
8. Acid Bath Fight
If fans were still getting their breath back from watching the Doctor supposedly die in the Punishment Dome for sadistic satire Vengeance on Varos, they may have needed a glass of water for the scene that came next. In fact, they probably needed one in the first place, as the querulous incarnation appeared quite deceased, having been tricked into thinking he was in a broiling desert. There was only one liquid on offer when the Time Lord regained consciousness - highly concentrated acid! Two fascist guards aimed to dump his curly-headed corpse into a vat of the stuff to dissolve. Baker was having none of it. He grappled with his captors and they ended up taking an unexpected dip in their own poisonous pool. "You'll forgive me if I don't join you," quipped the Sixth, a line that has since passed into history. While some thought he'd committed an act of barbarism, the facts of the matter were surprisingly innocent. All Baker wanted to do was get directions out of this nightmare. It wasn't his fault that his surprise resurrection made one guard accidentally knock the other into the deadly drink. And when the half-melted workmate dragged his pal headfirst after him, the Doctor wasn't exactly going to roll up his sleeves and offer to give them a hand, regenerative capacity or not!
