Doctor Who: 10 Iconic Sixth Doctor Moments Nobody Will Ever Forget

7. Double Entendre Of The Daleks

A more obscure but definitive Sixth Doctor sequence occurred during the closing story of his first season, Revelation of the Daleks. The setting of a corporate funeral home with its frequent acts of spectacular violence was strange enough for even the hardiest child to chew on. However, a smaller moment stood out from the morbid mayhem before the action properly got going. Scaling a wall in order to access Tranquil Repose, the TARDIS traveller straddled the stonework and immediately began to protest. Something had clearly gone very wrong. But what? Peri was deeply sympathetic. "I shall learn to live without it!" her feisty, foppish friend retorted. Bearing in mind his position, there was a bizarre suggestion that Baker may have compromised himself biologically in his eagerness to get over the top. When he reached the bottom, though, it transpired it was his trusty pocket watch that had been wrecked. This short scene surely ranks as one of the most unusual in Doctor Who's numerous decades. A rather random attempt at pantomime humour in a yarn steeped in black comedy, and one that exemplifies this most theatrical of tenures.
