Doctor Who: 10 Most Compelling Series 9 Fan Theories

6. Morbius Is Looking For The Doctor!

Following the recent release of the two-minute-long "Prologue" showing the Doctor on Karn, fans have begun obsessing over who is sending "meat-stack-faced" emissaries to seek out the Doctor.

In the Prologue, the conversation between the Doctor and Ohila seemed to indicate that the Doctor was long acquainted with the person seeking him out, but they weren't friends. Speculations have naturally focussed on who fits this bill.

People have been saying "Davros!" and "Omega!" but the most compelling candidate for the mystery villain has to be Morbius, the deranged Time Lord general last seen on Karn. Who else would know about the planet?

If the general theme of Series 9 is a sort of grail quest, where the grail is Gallifrey, then Morbius would be a great fit for a villainous ally in the search. He would naturally want to find the Time Lord's home planet every bit as much as the Doctor - but a Morbius claiming to be the saviour of Galiifrey is a frightening thought indeed. If he were able to use that claim to regain his old grasp on power on Gallifrey, the universe could become a very dangerous place for the Doctor.
