Doctor Who: 10 Most Disturbing Episodes
1. Revelation Of The Daleks
Decapitations, grave robbing, cannibalism, famine - no, this isn't a description of some intense horror movie, but rather a serial from the 22nd season of Doctor Who. The Daleks have already made one appearance on this list, but they are here again with an even more disgusting and disturbing outing.
This two-part episode was based on the planet Necros. It saw Davros - the classic Who villain responsible for creating the Daleks - masquerading as "The Great Healer" and convincing the universe that he can save them from famine. However, instead, he uses a high-tech facility to turn humans either into food or Daleks for his new secret army.
From that description, you can easily guess why this makes it to the list. While classic Who had a lot of darker episodes, but this one easily ranked among the most terrifying. It caused a big uproar as the controversial insertion of human cannibalism sparked outrage with viewers.
The imagery on display was often horrifying, and brought to life with some strong - if dated - visual effects. These striking grotesque images matched the severe tone perfectly.
