Doctor Who: 10 Most Infuriating Cliffhangers Of The Revived Series

1. The Stolen Earth

The revived series of Doctor Who has given us its fair share of almighty cliffhangers over the last decade (this list is merely the tip of the timey-wimey iceberg) but there's surely only one that's worthy to take the top spot on this list of irrevocably infuriating ones. If you still haven't guessed what it is, cast your mind back to Saturday 28th June 2008 (if you dare) which marked the day on which the nation was sent into an unprecedented frenzy. Just when viewers thought that the Tenth Doctor and Rose Tyler were finally about to run into each other's arms for the reunion the universe had been waiting for, the moment was ruined when the titular Time Lord was shot dead by a Dalek and proceeded to regenerate before our very eyes. As it turns out, though, it was all a hoax and our hero managed to cheat death by pouring his regeneration energy into his handy spare hand. Thank God for that. This one came with a mixed bag of emotions. Elation because David Tennant wasn't leaving after all but it's still infuriating because you can't help but feel like it was all a huge fuss over nothing. It worked, of course, because it secured one of Doctor Who's highest viewing figures to date (almost 11 million people tuned in the following week to find out that they'd all been duped) but, narratively speaking, was it really worth it? Russell T Davies was laughing all the way to the bank, anyway. What did you think of this list? Have there been any other NuWho cliffhangers that have infuriated you?
