Doctor Who: 10 Most Infuriating Cliffhangers Of The Revived Series
2. The End Of Time, Part One
Who could forget the momentous moment in which the almighty Time Lords made their shock return in The End of Time, Part One? Well, it looks like they did because their involvement in the following episode ultimately paled in comparison to the climactic cliffhanger which marked their long awaited comeback to our screens. The Master (yes, him again - he just doesn't know when to quit, does he?) had just transformed the citizens of planet Earth into his formidable 'Master race' but that was the least of the Tenth Doctor's worries when it emerged that his home planet was about to come hurtling back into existence. To cut a very long story short, the climactic events of the Time War had been time locked to prevent anyone from travelling in or out of them but it came as no surprise to discover that the Time Lords had had other ideas. Obviously, because that's just how they roll. In retrospect, Rassilon and his troop of tyrannical Time Lords needn't have bothered trying to restore Gallifrey to its former glory because they were tragically underused on screen and they only ended up being sent "back into hell" anyway. It made the whole charade feel pretty pointless indeed, especially now that it's been rewritten that the Doctor never even blew them up in the first place. Still, it added another interesting dimension to the Tenth Doctor's swansong adventure but this cliffhanger is infuriating to watch when you know how insignificant their inclusion turns out to be. Not to worry, though, because something tells us that the imminent return of Gallifrey will more than make up for it.
