Doctor Who: 10 Most Infuriating Cliffhangers Of The Revived Series
10. Army Of Ghosts
The Series 2 finale was shaping up to be a pretty epic affair before the Daleks came along and ruined it all. Not that they ruined it per se, but their shock arrival at the end of Army of Ghosts certainly look the spotlight away from the Cybermen who were much more deserving to be the featured finale foe after their failed attempt to conquer the parallel universe earlier in the series resulted in them stomping their way through the void in an attempt to take over ours. As you do. As extra terrestrials threats go, though, that would have more than sufficed. As always, the Daleks couldn't help but crash the party and just as Earth was coming to terms with its Cyber invasion, a troop of the ever persistent pepperpots descended upon the planet as part of their ongoing struggle to achieve universal domination. Only this time there was only 4 of them (to begin with, anyway) and they were really quite useless if you think about it. Don't get us wrong, their unannounced return certainly gave the show an almighty cliffhanger but it was also an infuriating one because you just knew that it would all be about the Daleks from that moment onwards. Their inclusion in the Series 1 finale had been so good that they really didn't need to come back so soon and the fact these ones were part of The Cult of Skaro and given funky names didn't serve to make them any more interesting, either. What's more, Doomsday was billed as the ultimate Dalek/Cyberman showdown and well... it just wasn't, was it? Fans certainly had high hopes for the drama to come when the Daleks escaped the confines of their void ship but the momentum soon fizzled out as the story continued.
