Doctor Who: 10 Most Poetic Moments
1. The Tenth Doctor's Tearful Farewell (The End Of Time)
Considered by many to be the Doctor's greatest incarnation, David Tennant portrayed the Tenth Doctor for four years over 48 episodes, as well as a guest appearance in The Sarah Jane Adventures.
Tennant's Doctor was given a 5 episode arc of specials which ended with his departure in "The End of Time".
After foiling the Master's plan to restore the Time Lords, the Doctor spends a gleeful moment in the knowledge that he has survived unharmed, only to hear the four knocks that he had been warned about countless times before. Turning to see Wilfred Mott trapped inside a radiation chamber, he realises that to save the man's life he has to allow the radiation to kill him and trigger a regeneration.
Tennant delivers an absolutely heart-wrenching tirade of emotion at Mott, before delivering the line: "I could do so much more... SO MUCH MORE!" through genuine tears. Saying goodbye to Tennant as the Doctor was hard for the audience, but it was plainly even harder for Tennant, and that's something that made this scene the most memorable of the Tenth Doctor's.
