6. The Beast/Toby Zed/The Posessed Ood (The Impossible Planet)
The Doctor faces one of the oldest baddies known to humanity - literal Satan.
Dwelling on the planet of Krop Tor which sits practically adjacent to a Black Hole, the Beast uses its monstrous abilities to posess the innocent Toby Zed, starting with echoing voices, progressing to cover him in markings of a language described as impossibly old by David Tennant's Doctor.
Will Thorp is the real standout star of this episode, with his facial expressions showing pure evil, as he manages to mercilessly kill Scooti by destroying the glass of a ship section, sending her into the black hole. It also must be said that the voice of the Beast - Gabriel Woolf, does a fantastic performance.
The Beast also posesses the Ood, a willingly subservient alien race, which proceed to annihilate many crew members of Sanctuary Base 6.
Toby makes the fear real, but the demonic posession he suffers at the claws of the Beast is what transforms him from a person with a nervous disposition, to a monster that deserves to be remembered.
